The church site in Tveta is very old, one of the oldest in Småland. Odin’s well and Thor’s well next door were probably sacrificial wells, so this has been a place of worship for more than 1000 years! Parts of the thick stone walls date from the 13th century, other parts from the 16th–18th centuries. On the north side of the church the visitor can discover ship carvings showing two merchant ships of a medieval type with sails and pennants. Similar carvings can be found on the islands of Gotland and Öland. Next to the church is the old municipal hall and several church stables.
