Silverdalens paper factory
From Lake Linden you can see a grand villa on the other side of the lakes shore. It is the residence where the manager of the paper factory lived. Hällefors paper factory was established here in 1874 – and later changed its name to Silverdalen. The paper factory is a very important part of Hultsfred municipality’s industrial historical heritage. It represents an industry in Småland which, thanks to hydropower, was able to develop into an industrial location of national importance. The factory became one of the municipality’s oldest and largest companies. When the paper factory was shut down in 2002, it was Kalmar County’s last paper factory.
