Spången (eng)
The bridge over Emån is built as a wooden suspension bridge and is called ”Spången”. The bridge is about 30 meters long and was southern Sweden’s longest suspension bridge when it was built in about 1920. The bridge was built by the old Järeda municipality – financed with money from dog taxes.
On the north side of Emån is the farm Prästnäs, which was a military residence for trumpeters. On the south side of Emån, a short distance from the bridge, Järeda church is located on a hill, with Lake Järnsjön below. It is clear that this is an old church site. Here, at least three generations of churches have been situated in the same place, at least since the beginning of the 16th century but probably longer.
