Fiber plank

A new wall construction was used by Hultsfreds-Hus from 1956. Instead of solid wood, the house walls were made of sawdust – ”fiberboard”. As much as possible of the house walls were prefabricated in the factory – with windows and doors already installed. It was now possible to build a great part of the houses indoors all year round – unlike in the past when houses were only built during the summer months. This new  method saved a lot of materials and was therefor much cheaper. Transport also became cheaper because the walls were delivered as flat packages. Building like this was something completely new. Many people were very surprised when they saw how quickly the houses were built on the spot.
