Hultsfreds-Hus built Sweden

Hultsfreds-Hus was Northern Europe’s largest wooden house factory in the 1960s. During the factories heyday from 1965 to 1973, more than 2,000 wooden houses were manufactured per year – that is 17 houses every day. At that time, 1,000 people were employed at the factory. The whole of Hultsfred was affected positively by this. Many built their own villas. But the companies wooden houses were also sold to growing residential areas across the whole country – and out into the world. Approximately 20 percent was exported to Denmark, but also to other countries such as Iraq and Japan.

Hultsfreds-Hus was established in 1960 from the companies Standardhus and Smålandsexport, which started manufacturing ready-made detached houses in Hultsfred as early as 1928. The companies delivered 60,000 houses between 1928 and 1993 – a record in Sweden!
